1970 Chevrolet Nova
September 30, 1996: I got this car from my aunt; it was my first car and I still love to drive it. I've done a frame off restoration since all the running gear was like new. This summer I went to Pidgeon Forge, TN for the Nova, Camaro, and Chevelle nationals. It was the first time I taken such a long trip in it (4 hrs. each way). It held up fine and got 32 mpg. I know most people tell me to put a small block in it but with the way this car is geared, three speed in the floor, and lighter weight it runs as good as most late model V8's. It's always fun to outrun someone and then tell them it's got an inline six.
1970 Chevrolet Nova rear My favorite memory is this: I removed the shifter boot and soaked the shifter linkage with white lithium grease. The next day leaving school I got on it pretty hard and just bumped it from first to second. When I did it actually got a wheel between gears (yes in an underpowered six cylinder). No power steering, power brakes, or A/C. I would eventually like to change each of those and build the six.
