2016 Twirler Audition Information

When: February 20, 2016, Time: 1:30 - 5:00 pm

Where: Meet in Mustang Band Hall; After a brief meeting, auditions will be held in the Crum Basketball Center

Format:
An SMU application should have been submitted to the school prior to the audition. A Mustang Band application must be submitted no later than the day prior to the audition. At the live audition, each candidate will perform two self-choreographed routines:

• A 2-minute routine to music of your choice with apparatus (apparatuses) of your choice (no fire, sorry!). Please bring a high- quality audio CD of the music to your audition labeled with your name.

• A routine with baton(s) only to a traditional SMU Fight Song, Pony Battle Cry. (Right click to save; Control click on a Mac.)

• A brief interview will also take place.

What we are looking for:
We will choose 1 twirler to serve in a soloist capacity (though we reserve the right to choose none). We expect that the feature twirler will be creative, possess advanced skills, possess the poise and confidence to perform as a soloist in front of large audiences, have the ability to work independently and as a team-player within the workings of the band as a whole, and be an exemplary member of the University community. The twirler will have experience working in a marching band setting and support that activity.

To register for the audition: Send an email to Don Hopkins, Band Director, [dhopkins@smu.edu] and he will send you a confirmation and updated information.

Results of the audition will be announced one to two weeks following the audition.
